The Black Economic Council (BEC) has been lobbying on behalf on Black Americans on issues of economics since being formed in June 2005.  Exclusively focused on the capital markets, banks, pension funds, both public and corporate, insurance companies, endowments and foundations, we have made significant progress in our only 3 years of existence. We work with banks, corporate pension fund officials and meet with foundations regarding their paltry donations to minority-led non-profits and lack of investments with Black asset and private equity fund mangers.  On November 17th and 18th, we will be traveling to Washington DC with the Greenlining Coalition to meet with Ben Bernanke, Federal Reserve Chairman and Shelia Bair, Chair of the FDIC and other bank regulators.  In  2009, an intense campaign on college endowments……the ultimate sacred cow……will be added to our agenda.
